BL21-Gold(DE3) competent cells is improved version of BL21 competent cells. These high-performance competent cells provide increased transformation efficiency and produce high-quality miniprep DNA. This BL21-Gold-derived expression strain is ideal for performing protein expression studies that utilize the T7 RNA polymerase promoter to direct high-level expression. Derived from Escherichia coli B, this expression strain naturally lack the Lon protease, which can degraderecombinant proteins. In addition, these strains are engineered to be deficient for a second protease, the OmpT protein.
